Plumbing Industry Hill Day
Industry Hill Day
Over the last several years, PHCC of MA as well as other industry leaders - Greater Boston PCA, IAPMO, PGANE, Union Affiliates - came together to represent our industry on Beacon Hill. After several months of planning with the assistance of our Lobbyist Team at Tremont Strategies under the guidance of Michael Morris, each year important issues that face our contractors are thoughtfully planned out for discussion with elected officials.
Representatives from across the Commonwealth come together in the morning to hear from several key officials in the industry on what the initiatives we’d like to focus on for this visit cover. There are invited guest speakers who give updates on different legislation, the political climate and what to expect for the day.
Following the visits with key elected officials or their staff, the group comes together again for more presentations on the various issues that have been outlined as hot topics before breaking for lunch.
Overall, the larger the number that is present in the building that day, the more conversations that are had, only strengthen our collective voice. Key issues in past years have been:
lobbying to save the Massachusetts Plumbing and Gas Codes from following a less stringent, not environmentally geared national code system
lobbying to protect natural gas and other fossil fuels and to build more sustainable energy options before taking out the fuel we know will work
varying small business legislation
vocational technical program funding
other key issues that impact how we operate our businesses
Will you consider joining us? The day takes less than one full work day from your schedule. It enables you to have time to meet other contractors who also want to protect what we collectively have and have your voice heard by those you and your neighbors placed in office.
In the coming weeks, we will post the schedule of events, the legislation links that will be discussed and other key information about the day. The registration link below requests your HOME not workplace information as that is where you are registered. Please join us for this event and help spread the word to others who may be interested as well. It is open to all licensees - union, non-union, business owner, employee - your status doesn't matter here. Your license and its protection does!
